The blond tucked some strands of hair behind her ears as she sat near the river. Whenever Alicia was at the particular location, she always thought back to the day when she met Zombie, the odd cat-like woman that she had ended up having a fight with. That day had been the most entertaining day in Charoite Village. Every day since then had been as boring as every day before the incident. Why did she stay in the village? She didn't even know why.
The thought of her home sickened her. The people that made fun of her; they had called her names, called her a slut, not even caring that they were only making matters worse. Didn't they know how difficult it was to be in a situation where you were pregnant, your boyfriend left you, and your parents didn't want to have anything to do with you? Her sister had been her only support, and she was surprised she had made it through that entire ordeal with just that support.
Slightly angered at the thought of the people she grew up around, she slammed her fist down onto the ground beside her, letting out a loud growl. A blue glare fixed upon the water, although the liquid was no the one at fault.

Markus really had no other tasks to do for the day. Not really wanting to stay couped up inside he decided to go out for a walk, but not without his trusty cigarettes... cancer sticks, whatever you would like to call them. 'Oh lung cancer,' He thought, walking with his hands in his pockets and a lit cig in his mouth. 'how you are so insignificant to keep people away from there addiction.' He thought in his head. He was aware of the fate that would be the look of his lungs, even now he doubted that they were far from pink and healthy looking. Chard, and full of tar. It left him with excuses to avoid tedious physical activity, not like health was on the top of his list of things to keep an eye on.
He was walking along the river, spotting a bench as he sat down in it, leaning into the wooden back and slouching as he removed the cigarette from his mouth and running a hand through his dark locks. Oh how lazy a day like today was... well, to him every day was lazy. He longed to have a cool beer in his hands, to kick back, relax, and watch the flow of the river. Not like Gemma seemed like she would realize. She was acting weird, something that was pushing Mark's buttons to no end. He was just glad that he was able to get away from her recently. Yet it felt odd being a loner after having her to follow him around all the time. She had talked him into moving, and she already was acting differently.
His thoughts were floating away like the smoke from his cigarette, when he heard a thump and growl from down the river. Eyebrow cocked hi looked down a ways to see a woman he hadn't really paid attention to since his arrival. She was glaring at the water, and he slid his cig back between his lips. "Whats bugging you?" He asked, even if he was never the social type he couldn't help but ask. "Do you enjoy having random outburst like that, did the water offend you, or is there actually some unknown reason to my knowing that makes you bothered?" He muttered.

The woman's fiery gaze snapped over to look at the man sitting on the bench. She had seen him before; he was the man at the Inn. Other than that, she knew nothing about him and hadn't seen him anywhere else. She didn't care to see him. She really didn't care to see anyone, except maybe her sister...
With a huff, Alicia turned her head away from the man. "I'm just pissed off, okay? Like I would tell some stranger about the reason."
Being nice was not something in her nature. She was usually only nice if someone amused her or if something touched her emotionally and made her feel bad for someone. If she could relate to the person, like when she met Elecia, she would show her rare compassion.
Who was this guy sitting there and neglecting his lungs? To Alicia, he looked like a druggie...he reminded her of one she used to go to school with.

He was used to such reactions, yet if the woman a ways away from him had been a man his temper would be shortened a great deal. Besides the matter of sex, the reply had tested his patience somewhat, yet a smirk crossed on his lips. The girl was testy, as usual sour moods kept people anything but polite or decent. Yet he never expected to be treated with the respect or decency that he rarely showed anyone. He was far to laid back and selfish for such things. Also it was bothersome to put effort into trying to put on a put together and happy front. His eyes held the slightest smile, even if the small one on his lips had faded into a line, fingers twitching in annoyance.
"Hey, I could care less what the actual problem is. Even if it seems like I was asking what was going on in your life I was doing no such actual thing. I was just wondering if you were slightly mental, or if you had a logical reason of which I didn't really need to know... If you get what I am saying." He said taking the cigarette from his mouth and waving it around in a circular motion as his hand waved around in the air. "To tell you the truth, even if you told me some pity story I probably would not have cared for the matter. Its not my business, and its not like I would actually have any feelings beyond my own opinions of someone I just met." He finished, exhaling some smoke and flicking some ashes from his cigarette before placing it back in his mouth. His gaze fading back into there uneventful and cold ways.

"I get it, and no I'm not mental," she snapped, crossing her arms slowly. "And I don't care if you wouldn't have cared for my pity story. It doesn't matter because I wouldn't have to told anyways."
She kept her gaze away from the man. It was unknown to her whether he was getting irritated with her or not, but it wasn't like she really cared at all. It seemed like he was just trying to get her more worked up than she already was, and she didn't want to fall into that trap. That would only please the man, and that was the last thing she wanted to do.
The glare on her face had faded shortly after the man had spoken, but her mood hadn't changed in the slightest. After a moment, she glanced back at the man to see him sitting there smoking, and it seemed as if he hadn't moved at all.

Markus, not being able to hold it back, actually smirked at the girls feisty side. Rarely people talked to him like that, and as annoying as it was, knowing that if it had not been a woman he would have punched a mans face in if he had ever been spoken to that way. It was slightly refreshing, besides the small bubble of anger that made the fingers that curled into a fist twitch. Amusement flickering in his eyes, holding the cigarette between his lips he muttered: "Good." The comment was almost followed by a chuckle, but such a noise was killed off by the anger that was hidden behind the smirk.
Not like this was very different from a usual situation. In all honestly unless he was drunk the anger that was in him was always present, even in a small flame, it was always there. He often questioned if this was normal or not. But he never would tell anyone that he believed himself to have a problem. Instead he warned people that they should not be involved with him. He doubted that he would have to tell the woman that sat by the river. Seemed like she wouldn't want to get involved with him anyways.

With a huff, Alicia shot him a haughty look. Why did have to randomly appear? It definitely wasn't helping her mood. She had wanted to punch something before he had arrived, and it sort of seemed like a sign that he should be her personal punching bag. The man looked a bit intimidating, though...there was a strange look in his eyes. It was obvious that he held quite a bit of anger, much like herself. He probably wasn't one to be messed with, yet there Alicia was, copping an attitude with the stranger.
"How much longer are you going to be there?" she asked, sounding a bit lighter than she had before. She didn't want to take the chance of getting on his really bad side, and if he was going to stay there for quite a while, then she would most likely leave.

Markus raised an eyebrow, cigarette still between his lips. "Hmn, as long as I would like to be most likely. Which I am not feeling like I really want to leave yet." He said, a look that was dead serious on his face. Which he was serious, but he knew that this is probably what the girl would most likely rather not hear. Anyways, despite the lighter tone of voice he knew that he had at least made her a little upset before. He just didn't feel like leaving or staying silent right now apparent, the corners of his mouth twitched as the slight feeling to smirk came and passed quickly.
"How about you, how long are you planning to stay?" Lazy blue eyes stayed on the woman, hand taking the cigarette from his mouth as he exhaled smoke.

Alicia mumbled under her breath after she heard his answer. That would mean she would probably leave. The whole point of going to the river and sitting at its side was so she could get some privacy and have some time to herself to think. Then this druggie had to show up and ruin it all for her. It seemed like other people always ruined her life, although she knew it was her fault most of the time. It was human nature to blame others.
When she glanced back at him, a blank expression on her face, she replied, "I'll probably be leaving. It depends on if you are going to talk and stare at me or not. If you don't do either, it just might feel like I'm alone here...which was the point of coming here." Her voice was not harsh, just rather...void of emotion.

"Pah ha," The halfhearted laughter came out as a rather pathetic attempt at a laugh. "Sorry to have interrupted your hopes of being alone and in a quiet area in a public place." Okay, so his anger flared again, this time when he was done speaking his eyes shifted over to the water for a few moments. Even if the womans words had not been harsh the comments had still rubbed him the wrong way. Cigarette in mouth and jaw tight he continued to just sit and listen to the running water. A normal person might have found this calm and relaxing, yet it seemed to fuel his anger even more.
He could have said something, or done something. But it most likely would have just shot him in the foot. Closing his eyes and taking a deep sigh he tried to keep calm, he stayed like this, practically shunning the woman near him out of his existence at the moment. He just wished that she was a man... or Gemma, so she would actually listen to him instead of asking him to shut up.

The odd man seemed to be ignoring her now, which was perfectly fine with Alicia. That was the second thing she wanted--the first being for him to just go away. Life wasn't always fair, and a person couldn't always get what they wanted, she realized that very well. She had wanted her boyfriend--her love--to stay with her after she became pregnant. That wasn't reality, and often times the males left if you weren't married.
If only I had been smarter, dammit. I'm letting thoughts of him and the baby and my family ruin me...
Like usual, her thoughts progressed back to the past. The blond always tried not to think about those horrific days, but they always came right back to her. Sometimes she wish she would just get amnesia and start a whole new life. That would be the easy way out.
Without even knowing it, her hand had moved to rest on her stomach. The days of her pregnancy returned, like they did sometimes, and a small smile appeared on her face. Smiling wasn't an action that she normally did, but she didn't even realize it.

Markus had done a great job at shunning the girl so far. Attitude strong so he would continue to block her existence for the time being. He himself just sat with a blank mind, knowing that it was best that way. That was, until he had the urge to just shoot the woman a small glance when he had caught the smallest movement out of the corner of his eye. Her hand placed on her stomach, and a rather (in his opinion) distasteful grin on her face.
And as usual, the smallest thing, such as this small smile... was enough to set him off.
He just continued to smoke, before getting to the end of the life of the cigarette, and flicking the remains into the river. He then crossed his arms, knowing that he wanted another one but keeping himself from pulling out his pack of cigarettes and lighter. He glared at the water before standing up rather hastily. Letting his hand slip into his pocket he pulled out what he had been trying to keep himself away from for only a few moments. Once another cigarette was lit he put the items he pulled from his pocket back where they had come from in the first place. He scratched the back of his head, icy blue eyes holding the glare unlike is lazy appearance. That and his sudden standing were the only two things that would give off the vibe of him being mad.
Slipping the item in between his lips, he glared down at the girl once more. He was thinking of some smart-assed thing he could say, but he was afraid that it wouldn't come out right. So he figured the best way to deal with the situation... Just walk away. It killed him to do so, but in less then a few moments he turned and started to do just that. Free hand tucking into his pocket as he rubbed the back of his head with the other. Yet he in fact had a very annoyed look on his face, eyes fixed into an unchanging glare.

When the man stood hastily, Alicia sensed it and looked back at him. Her face was not angry, nor was it questioning. He naturally seemed like an irritated and pissed off person, and his features screamed that he was annoyed. From what? She wasn't sure if it was because of her retorts earlier or if he was lost in unwanted thoughts, too. One thing was for sure--their personalities clashed. The woman's personality usually did clash with other people's, no matter what they were like.
For a moment she wondering if he was going to stalk over and hit her or bite back with some type of remark, but he just walked away with a cancer stick in his mouth instead. That's what the blond had wished for all along: for him to go away. Now that he was gone, she remained in a sour mood, but it was even worse than before the smoker arrived. Of course he had made her mood even worse, but she wasn't going to actually blame him because there was no need. She was depressed and pissed, no matter what caused it.
Alicia debated, only for a second, whether she should just jump into the river or not. It was chilly outside, but it wasn't like she cared at all. The decision of not jumping in won over her, and she scrambled to her feet quickly.
With an angry sigh, and a shake of her head, she trampled away from the river, hoping to avoid the smoker as she made her way back into the village.
