He nearly gagged on the drink, surprise playing a role more than the water itself. Rico sputtered like an idiot for a moment. It wasn't long after that the pills can tumbled their way down in throat and started to make their way to his stomach. His lashes fluttered madly and his vision was painful. But at least the man was now among the living.
It was warm enough in the room. But Rico still felt like ice. Perhaps that was because of the body language of the silhouette that wasn't far over. Narrowing his eyes to get a better view of it, he noticed a slim figure with its arms crossed at the foot of his bed. Slowly focus became a possibility for his limited senses, and he was able to see it was a girl. For a second Rico had flashbacks to his face shoved against the snow drift, for she had pale white hair that just scraped her chin in a bob-like fashion. Her shoulders appeared tense and her pale lips a firm line, and in that moment Rico forgot that he was in a hospital and a doctor was hovering just inches next to him.
Who was this beautiful girl that looked so angry, yet with conflicted eyes? And why was she so damn familiar?
Summer beaches the waves crashing voices rising in agitation watching how her dress flipped in the breeze and the salt water spray fill the air coating in tongue accenting his growing smirk...
"If I was you Rico, I really wouldn't start judging a book by its cover..."
"...Raine?" he questioned, his rough voice faint. His eyes widened in both confusion and anticipation. But...why? Why was she here?

When the man had been opening his eyes, Raine hadn't moved or made a sound. And when they found her, she was rather surprised. He still seemed in pain, but at least he was becoming conscious, which was enough to make her worry a little less.
"...Raine?"
Hearing her own name come from the man had thrown her off a little, lips becoming soft from their firm line. Her eyebrows raised, a rather amused look crossing her face. So at least he remembered her, so the possibilities of an awkward situation of not being remembered, but remembering the man was at least avoided. Yet she was far from set on being the first thing that caught the mans attention when he opened his eyes. She paused, arms still crossed even if they were itching to get out of their position. She didn't know if she should be feeling sympathy for the man, or anger toward the situation.
"You overworked yourself, like and idiot." She finally stated rather flatly, yet it held an air of uncertainty. "You should be more careful, who knows what could have happened to you if I wasn't where I was, when I was." She said, seeming to dull the name of idiot with a valid point. She sighed, tucking some hair behind her ears before she dropped her arms, hands instead resting on her hips as she continued to look at the man in the clinics bed.

A pale eyebrow quirked as Chase observed the scene, golden eyes darting from one person to the other. He felt as if he could slice the tension between the two with a knife at first, but it had definitely lessened. It was almost as if the two acted like a...couple. But they weren't, were they? He wasn't sure if he should offer to leave them alone for a moment or not, but then opted against it since there were more important things to worry about.
Turning and bending, the doctor opened a drawer in the dresser near the bed. He got out another blanket and draped it over the man, noticing that he still seemed cold and wasn't warming up fast enough. His patient would surely be sick.
"You could have died," Chase threw in, stating the obvious in case Ricardo's brain was lagging from the critical events of the day. "You need to wear appropriate clothing when going outside in the winter, and you definitely shouldn't overwork. You should be very thankful Raine brought you here."
Scolding people was his job. It was basically second nature to him when he was within the walls of a medical building...

At her first mention of him being an "idiot", everything else that came out of that cute mouth of hers was lost. She continued along for a bit, but meanwhile a fire was growing behind his gaze. Damn, that was right. She was the crazy girl who thought she could be a blacksmith while wearing frilly pink dresses, the fool. Teeth gnawing on his lower lip, his gaze held a deadly glare. Rico attempted to raise himself to his elbows (you could only engage in a verbal fight properly while looking your foe in the eye, after all) but his weakened body found the act impossible. The trembling limbs gave out on him, depositing the man with a plop back on the soft sheets. Ug. Wow, that must have looked impressive.
Light pink flooded his cheeks and the rancher blushed, now staring helplessly up at the ceiling above him. ...They really needed to clean off that spiderweb that was forming in the top corner over there.
"You could have died," came the doctor's voice from beside him, and Rico gave a childish groan. He knew this was coming. Oh, here came the lecture. He didn't really give a damn - though he secretly respected his profession - when the medical man started to ramble about his health. "Wear appropriate clothing" and "shouldn't overwork" briefly caught his attention, but that was about where it ended. Rico squeezed his eyes shut. Oh, he hated being catered and scolded to. ...Unless it was coming from Elecia. That woman could say whatever the hell she wanted to to him, and he would take it all with a smile. Of course, there were other reasons involved with that, but now wasn't the time to daydream...
"You should be very thankful Raine brought you here."
...What? At this his murky eyes came wide again, flitting down to where the girl in question stood. What the...? She still looked moodily back at him, hands now gripping her hips, and Rico let his eyes rake over her body. ...Yep, he wasn't really seeing that much muscle on her. She had some nice hips, but not muscle. Perhaps he had heard the doc wrong. Because it just didn't compute. " ...How the hell you manage to pull that one off, missy?" he asked incredulously, his weak voice still obviously leaking doubt. " Like...it's one thing to think you can do a man's job. ...But it's a whole other thing to actually do it." At that moment, he wasn't sure if he should start giving Raine a bit more respect or to think it freakishly manly of her to pull a stunt like that. Because right now he was having a little bit of both.[/blockquote]

She had watched as his attempt to sit up which he failed at, and as he groaned as Chase put in his words for the man. She just stood looking at him, and thats when it was said.
"You should be very thankful Raine brought you here."
Raine's eyebrow twitched, not really having expected the man to bring up that point just yet. It was now out of the way, but when Ricardo opened his eyes and looked over her. She knew exactly what he was thinking just by the way he was looking at her. It was coming, and her gaze was already swinging to a glare as the man opened his mouth.
"...How the hell you manage to pull that one off, missy? Like...it's one thing to think you can do a man's job. ...But it's a whole other thing to actually do it."
Eyes now in a flat out glare, lips in a tight line before a smirk game to her lips, teeth clenched. "I don't think I can do the job, I can. And its not a 'man's' job anymore, seeming as how woman can do the job just as well, if not better then a man." She said trying to steady the nerves that were being pushed and plucked by his statement. "Also seeming as how a hauled your ass to this room from where you could have died, you would think that you should be more thankful then questioning and being skeptical." She said, giving a dark chuckle. "Anyways, I thought I told you before not to judge a book by its cover Rico." She said, rather sweetly as if poisoned honey was dripping off her tongue. Apparently this was the only man so far that was able to bring out the defensive, feminist side of her yet.

They definitely bicker like a couple, Chase noted absently. His expression was set on blank, but as soon as he glanced at Raine, the smallest of smiles played across his face. She sure was tough, and she sure knew how to defend herself. The woman he had met in the forest was a person he would not like to mess with, and if Ricardo knew what was good for him, he wouldn't try messing with her either. At least not in his current state, that is. It seemed men like Ricardo could hold their own ground and fight right back, but it really wasn't in Chase's nature to do so.
For a moment, the doctor bit back a comment that related to telling his patient to save the fight for later and that he would probably continue to make a fool of himself if he attempted to continue at that time. His unsuccessful attempt to sit up had made him shake his head.
With a fluid motion of his hand, Chase murmured something like, "I don't think you should underestimate her anymore. She saved your life."
It was obvious that the man laying down had zoned out during his lecture, so he wondered if he would pay any attention to his words now. If he did, it was very possible he would get a snappy response.

AN// Epic fail post. Please forgive me. ;_;
Ricardo, rather like a scorned child, turned over on his stomach and buried his face in the pillow beneath him. "Psh. 'Book by its cover' my ass..." he mumbled while pouting. The sound was heavily muffled from the cushion. It was one thing to judge a person just because of what they wore - which Rico admitted he had done with this girl, but that wasn't the case any longer. Some things Mother Nature had just put a boundary on. Like, when it came to women and they way they were built. He really had to give the Goddess, nature, or whatever had created those lovely creatures a hand. It was no secret that he highly appreciated the female form. But it was an entirely other thing for her to act so appalled when he had second guesses about her and forging. Did she realize how closely in-tuned their two professions became when they were at work? A mess-up on her half could potentially cost him the life of something precious and irreplaceable. He couldn't imagine what would happen if a tool or equipment malfunction ever injured Ivy in anyway... He had had the beauty since she was merely a foal...
In the background, the rancher heard the doctor mumble something or another. And judging by the man's tone, it wasn't exactly praise. Rico assumed he was still lecturing him on keeping his health in check. So, with face still firmly shoved in pillow, he absentmindedly spun his hand in circles behind his head. "Do whatever else you have left to do, Doc." His voice was hard to decipher and rather cottony sounding thanks to his mouth placement. "Just get me outta here as soon as ya can..."

Chase straightened himself up and strutted over to Ricardo's profile that he had set down. As he snatched up the item, he said stiffly, "I have nothing else to do right now. After about an hour I will check on your wound and run some tests to make sure you don't have a concussion."
The white-haired man went over to a chair in the corner of the room and plopped down, flicking the file open and retrieving the pen in his pocket with the other hand. After clicking the pen, he started scribbling down notes in the file.
"You just need to rest there for awhile, at least overnight."
A groan or some sort of protest was expected from the man. He just seemed like the type that would do something along those lines. It wouldn't surprise Chase in the slightest, and he guessed that Raine wouldn't be surprised either.

Hands still on her hands on her hips, she faced Chase. Her nerves seemed to be calmed at least a little because the man who worked her up seemed to just roll over and give up, face smothered by the pillow now. Her face wasn't as annoyed or defensive, yet still held a bit of a defense in it, mainly in her eyes. Her lips curled slightly at the corners as she looked at the man, as usual the closest to a smile you would get most of the time. "Well it seems like I should be heading home." She said rather dully, but the comment was still laced with a lighter tone. "Seeming as how you have enough on your hands here without me around. It seems like my presence won't bring any good out of anything." She chuckled jabbing a thumb in Ricardo's direction seconds before the statement. She then glanced over at Ricardo before rolling her eyes and deciding it would be best if she just didn't at the moment, as the annoyance of what he had said rolled back in.
"Well then, I should be on my way off," She said with a sigh as she started to rub at he back again. She realized that the events from the day were finally starting to pull at her mind, and body. She normally pushed herself to the point before she would get overly tired, or too tired to do simple tasks. Yet still having hauled the man to the clinic, that was a little more then simple, so she was starting to long for her bed. Not only that but when she got home she could have seen Eli trying to make some food and leaving a mess around the kitchen that she would have to clean up. That or he could just be sitting and starving waiting for her to come home to make food even at this late hour. The situation was more dramatic in her mind, her brother not really capable of such tasks... because he wouldn't harass her that much, and he would try his best to clean up the mess if he made food. Its just that when Raine arrived home, it was often just around the points of said things happening. With a simple sigh escaping her lips she dropped her arms and turned to head out of the building.
