Addelaide was wandering. She was trying to get to know the village better, but she ended up outside of the village somehow. I guess its good to know your surroundings, too, though. Addelaide was working on finding her way back to the village when she saw the river. It was a pretty river.
It wasn't frozen over yet, probably because of the current or something. Everything was white, except for the river, which was a glistening blue. Addelaide didn't feel like painting, but when she was in the mood, she made a mental note to come back. Addelaide walked closer to the river, the snow crunching under her boots.
Now on the edge of the river, Adda could see there was a thin layer of ice starting to form over it. Addelaide took off one of her gloves and dipped her hand in the water. Yes, it was a dumb thing to do, but she did it none the less. The water was cold, but Adda didn't remove her hand at first.
As a child, Addelaide had always liked the cold, the winter. As an adult, Adda still liked the winter, but now, she's finding its easier to enjoy when you have somewhere to live. Staying outside in the winter is...cold. A little more cold than that of which strikes Adda's fancy.
Speaking of cold not striking her fancy, Adda's fingers were starting to go numb. Realizing this, she quickly pulled them from the water. Wiping the water from her hand onto her coat, Addelaide mused over the thought that she could get so caught up with herself that she'd her her own fingers grow numb without realizing it. She stuck her hand back into the glove and stared out at the river, getting caught up in her thoughts again.

Jason heaved a sigh, his breath becoming a puff of white in the cold air. The man didn't really dislike any season, but winter was probably his favorite out of them all. The crisp atmosphere always kept him alert and it was quite refreshing. Although he had grown up on a farm, the point of the year when plants wouldn't grow was fine with him.
Ever since the green-haired man had arrived in the village, he hadn't done much exploring. The beach was his favorite place to visit, but he had decided to change things up a bit today and went to the river instead. For some odd reason, it seemed like water attracted him.
As he neared the iceless water, he noticed a woman standing by the river, bundled up for winter. A smile spread across his face, his talkative and friendly nature rising to the surface.
"The water is beautiful, isn't it?" he said, coming up to stand beside the stranger.

Of course, as Addelaide had before discovered, she was very good at not paying attention. As she had previously not noticed her hand going numb, she didn't notice the snow crunching behind her as someone walked up. Adda had been thinking about life before Charoite. Like when she was a child, and how she would always play in the snow.
It startled her when someone spoke, because, as before stated, she got caught up in her thoughts well. ""The water is beautiful, isn't it?" the man said.
Addelaide turned to face him, smiling. Being polite was something she had learned early on. "Yes, very," Adda smiled.
She mused over the man's green hair. It seemed like it would look silly to see, a man with green hair, but it was actually pretty normal. Imagine that. Addelaide smiled to herself, realizing again, how short she was. She was about a foot or so shorter than him, interestingly. Addelaide had always been short, she suspected it was because of her lack of calcium.

Jason flashed his pearly whites down at the woman. She was quite a bit shorter than him, and it was the first person he had met that was around his sister's height. The build of her was petite, and it made her kind of cute.
After the man realized he had been staring at her without saying anything, he stuck out a hand. "Sorry I'm being so rude. My name is Jason Peterson." As he waited for her to extend a hand and shake his, he continued to smile. "I'm kind of new here."

The man smiled down at Adda, for quite some time too. It started to get slightly creepy, but Adda didn't say anything. Her smile faltered the slightest bit. It was slightly awkward standing like that, but before she broke the silence, he did. He introduced himself, sticking his hand out for Addelaide to shake.
Addelaide took his hand, returning his greeting. "Thats alright, it was barely rude. I'm Addelaide Thatcher, traveling artist. I like this place though, so I think I'm going to stay. That said, I'm new too."
Halfway through her introduction, Adda realized she was starting to ramble. She didn't show it, though, she just finished up her greeting. The man, Jason, didn't look like the type who would really get mad about rambling, though. Which was a relief, because Addelaide did tend to ramble every once in a while. It was probably one of her not-so-great traits, but its better than staying quiet all of the time.
"As an artist it's important for me to find places like this, full of tranquil beauty. I'm sure the river will make a great painting," Addelaide said absentmindedly as she stared out to the flowing river. The setting was beautiful, and would indeed make a wonderful painting. Addelaide would have to come back to paint it one day. It would look even better in the spring than in winter.

Jason nodded after her introduction. It was always nice to have new people around the area. He really hadn't met many people yet, but he hoped to venture around some more and get to know some people. It was in his nature to be social and make friends. It was like all his energy was trapped inside of him when he didn't get to be around a lot of people.
"An artist?" he said, quirking an eyebrow. Out of the people he had met in the village, he hadn't heard of such a job. Some diversity was definitely good. "That's interesting."
His new aquaintance seemed to lose herself in the slightly frosted water of the river. It was surprisingly that it wasn't completely iced over in such cold temperatures.
"As an artist it's important for me to find places like this, full of tranquil beauty. I'm sure the river will make a great painting."
The green-haired man had turned his head to look out at the water also. For a second, he turned his gaze to the petite woman. "Ah, I can see why. It really is beautiful, especially in the spring." With a nod, his eyes flickered back to where they had been before. "The ocean is definitely beautiful, too. It would be nice to paint a picture of it. I find myself drawn to it for some reason."
