Eli laughed at her, nodding as he did so. She was getting used to it now, and because they were both wanting to get to the next floor they had both taken more time working then talking. When they were done and he was working on feeding the ladder through the next hole that was in the ground his gaze became rather concerned. "What time do you think it is anyways?..." He asked, starting to attach the top of the ladder to the side of the hole. He then looked up at Camille, taking her hand before helping her down, he then handed down the supplies that she would need to attach the bottom of the ladder and the small battery powered lantern.
He then lay down on his stomach looking down at her though the hole, prepared to start handing down the items to her.

Smirking, she shrugged. "I was actually just about to ask you the same question." The items were then handed down to her, one by one, before Eli himself climbed down. As he did so, the woman fastened the bottom of the ladder to the ground as her companion had taught her to do earlier.
Pondering the question he had asked, she straightened up and looked at Eli, a thoughtful expression on her face. "Mmm...if I knew where the sun was, I could tell you...but it is impossible to know down here. I can usually go three hours past lunch before I am completely starving like I was earlier. So...maybe around...five or six?" She shrugged. "I have no idea, it's just a guess. Could be later, but I highly doubt it's any earlier than that."
The woman started to get out the materials they would need to make another ladder, but froze. "Should we make another...or should we head back up? What do you think?"

Eli thought a few moments, before shaking his head and giving a sigh. "I think that we should head back up." He said, even if it pained him to do so. "We didn't get all that much done today. But I think that its okay because it was our first day. When we come down again I think that we can get further." He said smiling lightly before motioning to the pile of supplies that they had brought down to make the ladder. "I bet we could just leave that stuff here too." He said, trying to make their journey back up as easy as possible.
"Unless you want to go down further." He said after blinking a few times and facing in her direction. He knew that she felt happy about the whole situation, and even if he did want to see what time was coming he wasn't really all that tired. So he waited for another opinion on the matter, seeming as how she was pulling out materials for another ladder.

The woman was torn between the two choices. She hadn't ever been a very decisive person, but she knew he wanted another opinion. The truth was that she wanted to get further into the mine, but she knew they wouldn't get too much further. Would the effort be worth it? Of course it would...but the fact that they didn't know what time it was was definitely bothering her.
"Hmm..." she hummed, staring at him. "Since we don't know what time it is, we should probably head back up. It might be late...we have no idea."
Camille gathered all her belongings that she would need to take with her, which there weren't many. It would be a nice and uncomplicated trip back up to the first level of the mine. It was exciting that they were at as far as they were because they could easily access different levels now without having to get down the old-fashioned way.
With a bright and reassuring smile, she told Eli, "I'll work even harder next time. I just needed to get used to it." After nodding, she added, "Ready to go back up?" Cerulean eyes scanned the ladder for a second.

"Yeah, sure." Eli said with a few nods and a smile. He grabbed his belongings, fitting everything in the bag before slinging it on his back. He let Camille lead the way, trailing behind as they chatted while they worked on getting up to the first floor. He was truly happy living like this, and if this is how his life would be for the rest of it, so be it. Mining, discovery, and the plus being his new companion that joined him just as happy to be on the expedition. Once on the first level of the mine a grin came to his face as they walked out of the side of the mountain. It was dark out, so he was glad that they had decided to come up before it got any later.
He knew that there was always tomorrow, and the day after that to work in the mine, so it allowed him to breath easily with no sense of a rush. He sighed, reaching out to Camille and placing his hand on her head. He noted the silky brown locks that brushed under his fingers as he smiled at her. "I should probably get home before Raine flips out. If I skipped dinner she will probably have a search party out for me already." He said with a chuckle. "I hope to see you here tomorrow, if not I might just do some investigating on my own." He teased, smile softening. "I hope we become good friends Camille, and I hope I can be a good friend to you." He suddenly slapped on, the words had just kinda slid out his mouth. Because it was what he felt, yet now as he felt slightly embarrassed he chuckled, rubbing her head before he removed his hand, grabbing the strap of his bag and heading back into town.

Once the two had stopped near the entrance of the mine, Eli placed his hand on her head. At the touch, her eyes moved up as far as they could, looking at the arm that was extended before her gaze snapped back to him. A smile hit her face, a blush accompanying it, but it was probably unnoticeable because of the very dim light.
"I hope to see you here tomorrow, if not I might just do some investigating on my own. I hope we become good friends Camille, and I hope I can be a good friend to you."
He ruffled her hair then took off, seeming a bit embarrassed...or so it seemed. She had wanted to reply, but she had stalled, and she couldn't seem to find any words to say even as she watched his form fading into the night. Merely blinking her eyes in his direction, she stared until he was gone. Once she fully digested what had happened, the blush on her face deepened, as did the smile.
"I hope we can be good friends, too..." she murmured, the words directed at the man that was gone. She was only talking to herself now, and she knew that. "I don't doubt you'll be a good friend...I just hope I can be as good of one to you." The words seemed to get lost in the night air as she stepped outside of the mine, ready to make her way back to the place she was staying.
