Even as Eli started to make the first ladder out of the assortment of polls, long for the base sides and short for the steps, his mind was alive and aware of possible discoveries. He happily started to craft the ladder, putting peaces together and tying the stepping poles tightly and securely after nailing everything into place. He waited for Camille to arrive to join him. His hands worked swiftly and carefully over the materials, his already rough and callused fingers not really bothered by the texture of the materials. His bag was at his side, along with another full of the pegs that would be used to step on, some rope, nails, a hammer, and the longer poles. The large array of materials at his side looked like they were in great number, not to mention his hammer that glinted under the soft light of the first floor of the mine. But what materials he had were just enough to get down to the 11th floor.
He was expecting to not become as exhausted as he had the other day, because the ladders would help conserve some energy. Also he had hopes of possibly mining today. Yet with the tedious efforts of making the ladders... He doubted that he would have that kind of luck. Once the craft of the first ladder was done he worked on fastening the ladder to the top of the first hole in the ground. Then he hoisted himself down to secure the bottom.
Testing the ladders durability and climbing up he rubbed his hands on the sides of his pants to get rid of any gravel or dust that was clinging to his hands before crossing them and looking at the opening to the cave. He was hoping that his friend would arrive soon so they could get started on there tasks.

Camille was toting a bag on her back, the head of her hammer sticking out of it. There was a bounce in her step, and she wasn't sure if it was because she was going to the mine or if it was because she was going to see her friend. Maybe it was both?
She had woken up a bit later than she would have liked, and then she had had to prepare some lunch for Eli and herself. Simple sandwiches were fine, and they would hopefully be filling. She had packed a few extra after seeing the amount of food Eli eats from when she had dinner with him and his sister. The thoughts of the plastic cow in her luggage bag mooing came to mind and a grin lit up her face. She wondering if Eli would ask about the mooing because he had seemed a bit baffled.
The grin still plastered on her face, the brown-haired woman arrived at the mine, spotting Eli as soon as she got there.
"Hi there!" she chirped, happy for the days activities ahead. She set her stuff over against the wall and turned to Eli, tilting her head to the side.

A grin spread across Eli's face when he watched his friend enter the mine. Camille seemed as ready as he was to begin their travels, only fueling his excitement more. It was a rare occasion to run into someone who liked mining as much as you did. Its not like mining attracted all groups of people, only few were tempted by what he thought was the greatest pull of discovery and exploration. Who knew what you would find? Not only was the traffic in the mine only attracting specific types of people, he couldn't think of a single time that he had run into a woman of the other sex then him. (Well, his sister had come before, but her girly side had found the mine to be a rather dull and boring place. You never knew when she would, or wouldn't like something. It was almost as if she was undecided about anything, and everything until confronted with a situation.)
"Hey!" He exclaimed before motioning to the first ladder that lead to the next floor. "I made our first steps to the second floor." He said with a smile. "I hope you don't mind me having started and and experimented with its sturdiness." He said, really hoping that she wasn't one of the girls who spazzed out when someone they worked with, started the work without them.
"Anyways, if you are ready to get started, then I guess we should get going. We need to craft quite a few ladders, also we might want to try and do a little more then make ladders. So I think we should get going." He said, knowing he sounded like quite a busy body. He hoped that he wasn't seeming unsocial, he truly did want to talk to her, yet he found that it would be best if he did so when working... Knowing that a good conversation could distract him. He knelt down by his bag, ignoring that apples and granola bars he had packed, pulling out the small lamp they had used the other day.
His lips coming to life with a sincere smile he looked at Camille, holding the lamp out in her direction. "Would you possibly like to venture down to the second floor so I might hand you down the items once again?" He asked standing up again. Everything that he knew about Camille made her unique, and he liked that. He could sense good grounds for a friendship were being built. And he knew if anything, that was a great start, he hoped that he would keep her company, and that she would enjoy his just as much as he was enjoying hers. He already felt like he had known her forever. It was an odd thing to think, yet he could not help the thoughts that naturally came to him.

"I hope you don't mind me having started and and experimented with its sturdiness."
Camille shook her head, her hands placed on her hips. "I can't believe you started without me." She was trying to sound serious and a bit hurt, but a smile was playing across her face the whole time. It was practically impossible for her to force herself to be serious. "I'm just kidding, I really don't mind at all. I woke up a bit late anyways...so sorry about arriving so late." She let out a few giggles.
After he talked about making more ladders, she merely nodded. She really wasn't the best at crafting items, but she would give it her best effort. If it meant getting further into the mine, she would surely work her best. Eli's equal amount of determination strengthened her desire to get further into the mine, and she was actually a bit impatient. It was very nice that someone had moved to the village with the same hobby and love of mining as her. Otherwise, it would have been quite lonely all the time.
"Would you possibly like to venture down to the second floor so I might hand you down the items once again?"
Camille reached out and took hold of the lamp he was offering to her, nodding in response to his words. She flashed a smile at him before starting to climb down the ladder, using one hand to hold onto it and the other to hold the lamp.
"Well, the ladder is pretty sturdy," she called to him once she reached the second level of the mine. "You did a great job so far. You're quite the craftsman, aren't you?"

Eli chuckled, handing down their bags and hammers down to her first. "Thanks, I have been known to make random objects like ladders from time to time. When I couldn't go off to the mine, I would work on building some things every now and then." He said, before starting to pass down more of the supplies. Once he passed down the large amounts of wood he once again descended the ladder.
Once at the bottom he took some of the supplies. Making the layout of the next ladder. The then pulled out the tools that they would need before he sat down at one side at the end of the ladder. He waved Camille over to him. "Come on, sit down and I will show you how to do this. If we both work on one side of the ladder then the process should go faster." He said happily, he was in fact rather uplifted by the thought of getting down to the next floor. After all the kinks were worked out he knew that he would finally be able to have a nice conversation with the woman. But for now he would have to walk her through what was going to happen.
((XD you can have her just work off of what he had done before, so we don't have to post back and forth so quickly.))

Camille sat down at the ladder, her back perfectly straight. She had always sat like that for some reason. As she awaited for an explanation, she stared at him, and after clearing his throat, the explanation started.
Waving a hand in the direction of the rough layout of the next ladder, Eli explained that everything had to be nailed into place. Once she was given a hammer, she took some nails and sat some of them in front of her, leaving on in the hand she didn't have the hammer in.
With her eyebrows knitted together, she hovered over some wood with the nail, the hammer ready. When she attempted to pound the nail into the wood, she ended up hitting her finger. Instead of swearing loudly, like she did when something hurt her, she just closed her eyes and bit her bottom lip. "That really freaking hurt," she grumbled, pouting a bit because she wasn't very good at making the ladder so far. "I'm not exactly...good at this kind of stuff. It's easier for me to aim with the bigger hammers."
The woman ended up getting some nails into the wood and securing a few pegs onto the longer sides. After admiring a bit of her work, she bounced up and down in her spot, giddy that she had accomplished such a task.
||I don't exactly know what all he did to make the ladder, so you might have to explain it more. Sorry. XD||

Eli had a small smile on his face, silently working on his in between his instructions. For the most part he watched as she worked on nailing together her side of the ladder. He laughed when she finished, bouncing from the excitement of her accomplishment. "Good job." He said, before nailing in his last nail on his side of the ladder. "Its easy to understand why you would be better at dealing with a bigger hammer... and a bigger target." He chuckled, poking some fun at her. "But you are adjusting it seems." He pulled some rope out of his bag, handing some over to Camille. "When you are done, you want to fasten the pegs a little more by wrapping some of this rope around them." He said, pulling some rope around the last peg he had been working on. He wrapped it around in a fashion that made and x pattern, making sure the rope was pulled tight to leave to room to move about.
"So, happy to finally be working on our mine project again?" He asked, glancing up and offering a smile.

Raising her eyebrows she concentrated on tying the rope on some of the pegs, she replied, "Indeed." Once the rope was fastening, she raised her head and her gaze to look at her friend. "I've been so excited about this. I can't wait to see what all we find!" The woman almost started bouncing up and down again, but she controlled herself from doing so, and a small happy squeak escaped her mouth instead.
A blush rose to her cheeks, and she glanced around, trying to avoid eye contact. It was always embarassing when she become overwhelmingly happy because she squeaked sometimes when she was joyous or excited.
"Er..." She was trying to think of something to say to distract the man from the weird noise she had made, but she didn't know what to say at that moment.

Eli couldn't help but laugh, the happy noise escaped his mouth. He found the small squeak his friend had given rather humorous, and even in her embarrassment he couldn't help but continue his fit of laughter. "What an interesting noise, how did you manage that so out of the blue?" He asked, continuing to work with the rope until his side was finished with his side. He crossed his arms, staying seated as he raised an eyebrow, waiting for a reply to his question. He had a smile plastered to his face, even if the noise seemed bazaar or out of place he had to admit that he had found it rather cute. He hated this thought, yet couldn't help himself from thinking it.
((Sorry for the shortness))

The blush remaining on her cheeks, Camille giggled a bit. With slightly shy eyes, she stared at Eli. "Well, whenever I get extremely happy so suddenly I sometimes squeak. It's not like I know when it's going to happen or anything...it just does." She pursed her lips together, keeping more giggling locked within her. After she squeaked she usually got overly giggly. Sometimes she couldn't stop.
Returning her attention to her work, the brunette started placing another peg on the ladder. It didn't take her as long to do so for this one as the previous. Afterward, she fastened it with a rope. Eli had started working on his again and got another finished. She hoped that she didn't distract him too much from his work because then they wouldn't get much done and get to another level of the mine, which was fueling all their excitement.
"I sound so dumb when I make little squeaks. Plus, then everyone knows how I'm feeling...not like that would be anything new, though." With a sigh, she rolled her blue orbs. It was nice to be able to talk so freely with someone. Camille just felt so terribly comfortable with the man.

Eli smiled up at her, chuckling under his breath. "Hey, I think its funny, and I am not going to lie, kinda cute. It would be annoying if you did such a thing if you were playing hide and seek or something. But thats only if you gave away my position as well." He said, comparing the moments where a squeak would be placed for convenience and annoyance. "Anyways, I am glad to know that you are so excited. I like knowing what others feel, because I am not one that hides there emotions." He chuckled again, shaking his head. That was one thing about his sister that he couldn't stand if he was being honest.
He continued to work, realizing that they were almost done with there second ladder that they had to work on. But just as he was about to finish tying a knot in the rope he stopped, gaze snapping up to Camille. "Hey! The other day your bag mooed!" He said accusingly pointing a finger. This was one mystery that really had eaten away in the back of his mind when he thought of it. And even if he knew that there was some logical reason besides a miniature cow in her bag, he had no idea what had caused the mooing. "How did it happen?" He asked, continuing to wag a finger in her direction.

Camille grinned at Eli's words about her squeaking. It was nice to know that they didn't annoy him in these situations, and she was flattered that he thought it was a bit cute. To attempt to hide her blush, she bowed her head and let some loose strands of hair slide infront of her face. Seconds later, the dark-haired man was pointing an index finger in her direction.
"Hey! The other day your bag mooed! How did it happen?"
Deciding to leave the man questioning the noise, Camille merely raised an eyebrow before standing up. They had finished the ladder and were ready to place it and continue to the next floor of the mine.
"Well, that is a good question..." she murmured, flashing him a taunting smile. Usually she would answer right away and not leave someone wondering, but she was curious as to how he would act if she didn't tell him right away. He seemed a bit bothered. With a sigh, she realized she just couldn't do that to him. "A couple years ago my best friend and I saw this small plastic cow at the video store. It used to poop out candy, but we ate it all. I've kept it all these years because it's mooing is so annoying, but we used to laugh at it all the time. It's a little joke I like to remember." Her smile remained, but it was a bit softer than it had been before, her eyes sparkling in the dim lighting.
She wondered how he would respond, or if he would have much to say at all. The woman knew they still needed to keep working, and working hard, to get down at least a few more floors.

Eli waited for her reply, a look of anitisipation as he watched her stand. They were done with the ladder, so even as he looked in her direction he also stood, grabbing the ladder and starting to slide it down the next hole in the floor of the mine. The longer she waited the more he wanted to know. And finally she spoke up, causing his antisipation to turn to interest. As she talked about her friend a grin came to his face. Her expression only seemed to show that the memory was good, with that soft smile on her lips. He enjoyed the look, yet it seemed to show that she missed the time with her friend, but that was just how he read it.
He laughed kneeling over and starting to secure the ladder. "Sounds like you have a good friend." He said, shooting her a glance with a grin.

She grinned back, although the statement caused a slight pain in her heart. "Had," she corrected in a soft voice. "She was the greatest friend. We had such good times together, and I have such wonderful memories of her." It was strange...the woman usually lost her happy demeanor after mentioning such times with her dead friend because she remembered she could never create more memories, but with Eli smiling at her, her good mood didn't diminish at all. The fact that he could keep her happy after mentioning her friend made her even happier, and somewhat nervous. It was an obvious indication that she was befriending him more and more each day...and also starting to think of him romantically.
Hoping her own words didn't lessen his good mood any, the brunette turned her attention to the ladder. After staring at it for a moment, she directed her gaze back to her companion, questioning him with her eyes on whether they were ready to proceed to the next floor or if they needed to do anything else first.

He blinked a few times... 'Had?' he thought, eyebrows furrowing as he looked at her. What had happened? He wanted to know, but he didn't want to ask. His smile had dampened slightly but it still was held on his face. Argument, is what he guessed, that was all he could man up to guess at the moment. "At least you had such a great friend. But you still have the memories I guess to remind you of that person... I am still sorry that its just one of those 'had' kind of stories." He said with soothing words. He just hopped that she would be okay after mentioning a had been friend.
"Buuuut, I think we can go down to the next floor." He said glancing around a few times. "Just don't go down on the ladder because it still isn't completely fastened at the bottom." He said, starting to collect all their things together.
